First Days Shoot of my trip to the Biiiig City.
New York City, 06/03/2014.
The whole story, down below.
Yep, I made it. I made my way to New York Citeeey. My feeling after.. best descriped by Usher – Yeah!
How it all started.
I arrived NYC on Wednesday after I took my 28.745th rideshare in Canada. With a nice couple from Quebec I made my way from Montréal to NYC in 6 hours. Eaaasy!
They left me at corner 42nd and 10Ave. Sure, why not.
Streets in NY are soooo simple that even a geographic retard like me is able to find his way without any toooo big detours.
Luckily my couchsurf host is smarter than he looks like and he placed a note at his doorbell.TJ —>
I followed my instructions like Schnitzeljagd and finally arrived at Douglas Carlos Jorleifs Apartment. (That’s his real name.) (Maybe..)
I opened the door as I saw two guys sitting at a table and three beers in front of them. I knew right from the beginning – This is the place to be!
One two three twelve beers later I found myself in a Karaoke Bar. Well.. What can I say. I began shy but in the end I was in my element again. Backstreetboys – I want it that way included. YES PLEASE THANKS!
‘That was a great Welcome, New York!’ – that’s what I thought when I went to bed. My way of thinking changed for a second the next morning, though…
The weather was good and after 4l of water straight into my Body I was most likely sure I will survive. Somehow. Douglas took me for a nice walk afterwards. Oh by the way.. he lives in Manhattan which is the sexy part from New York. So I was lucky once again.
We walked a little marathon through some nice parts of Manhattan and ended up in beautiful Brookyln, where the picture from above was taken. An incrediable view onto New York and I was happy like a child!
(Like a happy child who just got 3bags of choclate or something like that.. not a child who goes to the dentist…)
The result of the American televison voting of day one – 12 points.
After this actually quite big walk, we did what we had to do. No.. I won’t .. Argh.. whatever. Cheers!
The weather on the following day was a biiiit cloudy and because my couchsurfhost has a real life (…..) I took my cam, my headphones and my courage and went exploring on my own.
On my List: Time Square, Grand Central Station, Central Park and whatever was brave enough to cross my way.
I had such a good time, that I walked for aaaaages. I actually thought when I returned it might be 2015 already. But I was lucky and rewarded myself with a glass of milk. Muh
A nice little walk in the djungle..
Same shit different day as I woke up on my third day in New York. I took my cam again and walked exploring in the other direction this time. The weather was amazing. Sun, warm. Wow!
During my walk next to the waterside of Manhattan, I felt like competing in the NY-Marathon as I shared my way with Millions of runners. Which kind of influenced me a bit. During my travels in Canada I wasn’t really able to fullfill my need for sports and because of all the snow.. soccer is not easier to play as well.. OH WAIT ..
Haha.. ok, Back to the topic. Well because the weather was so great I walked for a few hours to: ground zero, the world trade center and the statue of liberty. But I was sooo on fire for making sports, so I decided to walk away ealier than expected to play some soccer/football!
And I found a nice cage/pitch in the middle of Manhattan. As a german LIBERO I was yelling, screaming, celebrating, NOTREALLYSCORINGBUTASSISTING!, and enjoying myself a lot. It was just awesome to play football in a T-Shirt OUTSIDE in NEW YORK CITY.
This day was really great. And beside that I took some pictures as well.
Don’t ask for sunshine,.. because I have sour muscles!
No. That’s not it. After this looong day, I left New York. I left towards Connecticut to meet up with an “old” friend from University. That was great as I met Jelle again :)
After a long day and an even longer night I was quite dead when I made my way back to New York. One good bye beer in the eve as I left to catch the MEGAFULLBUS to Toronto at 11.59pm. Yaaaay..
Woooooooooooow was I tired when I arrived 12hours later. But now I am back in Toronto. For few weeks before I’ll take my flight back HOME!
Ok, enough for now. New York was really amazing and worth the be called “The Icing on the Cake – Adventure” I was looking for.
The last words this time from a picture I took in Downtown, Manhattan.
